Update On My Writing Projects

When summer began, I felt led to work on two writing projects, notes on John for an interactive groups discussion and turning my short story Jessica’s Encounter at the Harbor Coffee Shop into a book.

My writings for John in the bible have been a weekly endeavor. It started with sharing them with my Life Group from church which led to the pastor asking me to do a Discipleship Training Group. As I prayed about it, the Lord showed me that preparing one on using the Bible for outreach fit better with what was needed. That was in July.

So yesterday I submitted to my pastor the first draft of my notes for using the Bible for sharing with others.

Now I feel led to focus on my book again. It will deal with the issue of Human Trafficking with the main character, Jessica, having a series of encounters with people from the Bible but in modern day settings. My hope is for the book to generate support for ministries that combat Human Trafficking and care for the victims.

I am sharing this update because prayers would be appreciated. Writing daily in my blog is relaxing for me. Writing projects that could have potential for ministry brings on daily battles. Those who are mature Christians will understand what I mean.

My book Jessica’s Encounters is currently at 20,000 words. It took back seat to Using the Bible for Outreach, but now I feel the Lord showing me to bring it back to the forefront. Perhaps a release of it in the fall would be good timing. Please pray for me.

Thank you for reading. God Bless.

  1. I am enthralled. I started reading one of Jessica’s Encounters and I love it! Thank you for sharing your stories!

  2. Praying for you in these writing endeavors! I’m writing two books right now, and I know EXACTLY what you mean about facing spiritual warfare as I work on them. Praying the Lord’s protection, guidance, and help as you complete them!

  3. Hey there!
I am catching up on all my blogger friends, this summer has been so busy! I am so happy to see lots of good updates and kingdom work!

I will keep you in my prayers, a book of this magnitude (human trafficking) needs prayers without diving to deep. We need stories like these to be written and heard πŸ™πŸΎ

It reminds me of two things: the movie β€œpriceless” by king and country and Lisa Bevere’s β€œmessenger international” that work to highlight human trafficking πŸ’ Be blessed !

  4. Awesome sounds very interesting! And the discipleship caught my eye as I’m serving on the hiring committee in our church, we’re in the process of hiring a discipleship pastor..it’s been a great experience so far and I’m so excited to see who God brings to our church to fill the position!!

      1. I’m good, I’ve just found myself in a busy season again..my church ministry roles are picking up again…it’s so hard for me to decide what to stay involved with and what to step out of, I need to spend more time in prayer and listening to God’s direction❀️
It’s hard to find time to read blogs right now and I miss that!

      2. I can understand how having children involved with church activities as well as other interests at church would create a situation where being busy can get in the way of focusing on relationship with Jesus and letting things flow from that.

  5. Praying for you brother and this wonderful endeavour you have undertaken. You have done great things already and made great strides. We pray for God’s strength as the enemy does NOT want you to succeed, but by the blood of Jesus, all shall be well. Amen!

  6. Praying for you to finish your book! And please pray for me to finish mine. I have to get started writing on it again. Thanks for everything you do, Matt. You are greatly appreciated!

  7. I will be praying. I think I want to, need to, or am supposed to do a book of my poetry. Really think I should, but I don’t have a clue how to even approach that mountain. Don’t even have a solid book title… or any of the know how.

      1. Yeah, that’s what I was doing, but then I started worrying that I may never get started. Maybe it’s just not time yet.
